Kids say the cutest things....

Andrew's been on a roll with saying funny things week. On Monday night Andrew and Jenna were standing in front of the patio doors looking outside, when he asked "can I have an ice hot dog?" After saying "what?" a few times, we finally realized he wanted to know if he could eat one of the icicles that had fallen onto the deck!
Last night on the way home from daycare Bruce was picking on Andrew and he told him to "Cut it up Dad!"......once again it took us a while (we're kinda slow sometimes), but we realized he meant to say - "cut it out Dad"! Needless to say we were laughing once we realized what he meant.

Ice Skates

Since the beginning of December Andrew has been talking about going ice skating and asking if we can buy him a pair of skates. We are not sure where this came from, but he's been pretty persistent. His persistence got worse once the neighbors put a small skating rink up in their back yard, so Saturday morning Andrew & Bruce went out and bought skates. Yes, he now has skates, so of course they had to test them out. Andrew and his friend Jenna both went skating on Saturday afternoon. Here's a pic of them:

I think Andrew was frustrated because he seemed to think that he should be able to just get up on skates and be really good at it. Bruce seems to have enjoyed being up on skates again, and I think he'll be skating often. The neighbors asked if Andrew wanted to skate with them yesterday, but he turned them down. He then proceeded to sit at the table drinking his hot chocolate and saying "that sure looks like fun", so I'm pretty sure he'll be back up on skates in no time.

Jenna's 18 month Check & Andrew starts class

Yesterday we had Jenna's 18 month check-up. She wasn't very happy to be at the Dr.'s office and cried any time anyone came close to her. Luckily she didn't need any shots this time. Andrew was a big help by letting Dr. Dahl look into his ears, etc. to show Jenna it didn't hurt, unfortunately Jenna didn't believe him, and screamed anyway. We were glad she already had an appointment because she had been a little under the weather starting on Sunday night. Turns out she has an ear infection (only her 2nd one).

Here's her Stats:
Weight= 23.2 lbs (30 % tile)
Height = 32" (60% tile)

She moved up from the 20% tile for weight, but you'd never know it. I still can't get pants to stay up on her!

Andrew started his Sports sampler class at the Y last night. He liked it, but wanted to know why he couldn't go swimming in the pool..... Last night they did basketball, which was funny to see. It was more organized than I thought it would be (you never know with 3-5 year olds). He made Bruce laugh because when one of the teachers asked if anyone knew what shooting was, he said he knew how to shoot his gun. We'll be working on dribbling, and passing this week in the basement. When he 'passed' the ball, instead of bouncing it on the floor, he threw it up in the air (like you do in baseball & football), and ended up bumping his partner in the head (oops!).

A good start to 2009

We rang in the New Year at Pete & Alice's new house. Everyone had a great time, and the kids were both awake at midnight. Amazingly they both slept in past 8 on New Year's day. It was very gracious of the Jones' to have a New Year's party considering they had only been in their house for 24 hours! It was great to hang out with everyone, and it was awesome that they had a babysitter there to help with the kids.
Chad, Christy, Alex & Becca came up for a visit on Saturday, which was a lot of fun, but too short. Andrew & Alex played really well together, and Becca enjoyed all the 'girl' toys that have showed up at our house since Christmas.
Here's a picture of the girls.....do you think they are up to no good? We're pretty sure once Jenna gets a little older these two are going to have to be watched very closely when they are together.

We made pizza for supper, and everyone including Jenna made their own pizza.

Then it was cupcakes for dessert....Becca especially liked the frosting!
