Our peanut & a bee sting

Jenna had her 15 month well child check this morning. Andrew came with - just to make sure she was OK (he's such a good big brother). They had her step on the adult scale this time instead of using the baby scale. Andrew showed her what to do, and she stepped on it with no issues. It looks pretty funny to see someone her size on the scale. She weighed in at 20.6 pounds (15th % tile), and is 30 inches in length (50th % tile). She's a bit of a peanut. She was given 2 shots, which didn't go over very well, but other than the shots, and having her head measure, she didn't cry at all.

I found a 4-wheeler on Craig's list this week that's Jenna size too. She loves it! Now she trys to follow Andrew around on hers, versus trying to ride his.

Here's a pic of her on her new toy:

Now for the bee sting.....Andrew, Jenna and I were having push-ups for an afternoon snack today. The bees apparently wanted push-ups for snacks too, because they kept landing on us, or the ice cream. Andrew went to wipe his hand, and at the same time a bee landed on his shirt....which caused him to be stung on his finger. After tears, Benadryl, a band-aid, and some ice, he was doing better. Bruce and I were thankful he didn't have a reaction.

1st dentist visit

Andrew went to the dentist for the 1st time today. He did awesome! I had brought him with me last week so he could see what they do, so today he had 'his turn'. The hygienist said that on their 1st visit their goal is to count their teeth, and not have them cry - he did way better than that ;) He let her count his teeth, floss his teeth, and clean them. Yea! I think that the cartoons they had on the TV helped a bit ;)

Here are some pictures from this morning:

Here's a pic of Jenna, who as of Sunday, is 15 months old. Where does the time go? She likes to do everything Andrew does, which is why she's swinging on a 'big kid' swing......

Rain & Apples

Last weekend we made our 1st trek of the season to the apple orchard. The weather people had called for scattered showers.....they apparently mostly 'scattered' right over us. That didn't stop us from having fun. Andrew liked to have is own umbrella, and both kids liked the apple samples. Jenna wasn't to sure what to think of the animals, and kept calling the cow and goats "doggie". On Sunday morning Andrew and I made an apple pie while Jenna took a morning nap - it turned out great. He did a great job mixing up the apples.

We also moved Jenna up to the table. She seems to like it better than having a tray, and doesn't seem to feed Sadie as much food. Now we just need to get her to stop pushing herself away from the table with her feet.

Here's a picture from this morning. The kids were coloring together - it was pretty cute. Andrew would tell Jenna what he was drawing, and then she'd hand him a different color crayon, while babbling something back to him.

Have a good weekend! Andrew just woke from his nap so we're going to head outside and enjoy the warm weather ;)

Two Inlets

We had fun during our second vacation to the lake. Everyone did well in the car on the way up and back, and neither Bruce or I wound up in the back seat with Jenna so that was an added bonus. The weather was a bit cool, but that didn't stop everyone from having fun.

The kids enjoyed spending time with Grandma & Grandpa Fullerton, and Grandma & Grandpa enjoyed the kids ;) Bob & Dee (friends of Gma & Gpa's) were also at the lake, it was nice to see them, and Dee loved meeting the kids and playing with them. Andrew kept calling Bob "Bob the Builder" - it was pretty funny. When he'd see Dee, he'd ask where Bob the Builder was. It was Grandpa's & Dee's birthday while we were up there, so that added extra fun.

On Tuesday (9/2) Andrew decided that he'd had enough of pull-ups and diapers.....he wanted to wear his Spiderman underwear. Since then we've had 1 accident! Amazing! He even made it up to the cabin and back ( a 4 hour car ride) w/ no accidents. We're so proud of him!

Other highlights of the week - Jenna showcasing her climbing skills, lots of mini ice cream cones from Grandma, Bruce catching a 31" northern, Russ catching a 34" northern, Andrew driving Grandpa's boat, a humming bird that would almost let you touch him, bon fires, Andrew playing pin ball, Jenna shaking her booty to a little toy CD player at the lodge, and a brownie birthday cake (that almost didn't make it due to a hot oven).
Here are some pics from the week:

Labor Day Weekend

Wow - what a busy weekend! On Friday we had 2 surprise visitors. My cousin Jodi stopped by for a bit, and my sister stopped by to show off her sparkly new diamond, and give me an update on wedding plans. Then on Saturday we meet up with Chad, Christy, Alex, and Becca and headed over to the MN State Fair. The kids liked the little farm hands exhibit, and everyone liked the Miracle of Birth center because they were able to pet baby animals. Alex and Andrew liked the baby animals, but really liked that one of the cows decided to go #2 while they were standing by it....if you ask Andrew about the fair - he'll tell you all about it. Once we all made it back to our house, we had only been home for about a 1/2 hour when we lost power! Just a little bit of excitement.....we kept hoping for the power to come back on, but finally gave in and took the kids to McDonald's. After we had everyone in the vehicles, ready to go, the power came back on (go figure). Since we were already packed up the kids lucked out, and got Mickey D's. We were all impressed by the uneventful meal we had (hey you never know what you are going to get with 4 kids!).

The girls hanging out

The girls hanging out with the dad's enjoying the bonfire (the boys were too busy playing in the sandbox to join us)

The Ihrke's left on Sunday morning, and my parents (Grandma & Grandpa Bongers) came up Sunday afternoon. The kids had fun playing with them, and we went out for pizza that night. Andrew ate 4 or 5 pieces of cheese bread plus some pizza - I think he's growing again because we can't seem to fill him up! After pizza we took the kids to the park, and Grandpa and Grandma had fun chasing them around the playground for a while.

On Labor day Bruce and the kids washed the boat in the morning, then he waxed it. Later while I got lunch ready Bruce and the kids washed the Tahoe. The kids were just a little wet, but you could tell they had fun. Now we're set for our 2nd up north vacation. We leave Wednesday for Two Inlets. It should be fun.
We also went to the Stride Rite store and bought Jenna her 1st pair of sneakers (Andrew also got a new pair). Both kids did awesome at the shoe store. Jenna seems to have a love of shoes already.....the gal would put a pair of shoes on her feet, she'd check them out, stand up and walk past a mirror to look at herself - it was too cute! We went with a pair of shoes that ties for Andrew, so hopefully we won't drive ourselves crazy tying his shoes for him. He really likes his shoes and claims that he can run extra fast in them. Afterwards we stopped off at Nelson's in Stillwater for ice cream.

That's it for us...have a good week. I'll update the blog after we get back from the lake :)
